After news broke last week that the Minnesota Timberwolves were going to interview Los Angeles Clippers general manager Michael Winger for the vacancy in the team's position of president of basketball operations, a new development has now surfaced which completely nips this narrative in the bud.

According to The Athletic's Jon Krawczynski, Winger himself has declined to interview with the Wolves, and has informed them of his desire to stay on in L.A.

Minnesota will now have no choice but to move on from Winger and look elsewhere in terms of their new team president. Surely, there are a good number of other noteworthy candidates on the list, so it's not as if the Wolves will be settling for a second-rate executive.

As for Winger, it is obvious that he has been enjoying the ride with the Clippers. This season has been tremendous for the organization as the team have exceeded most, if not all expectations of them prior to the start of the season.

After shattering regular season win projections, Los Angeles are now in the midst of an unlikely playoff run. However, after finishing the regular season as the eighth seed in the Western Conference, they have been pitted against the defending champions, the Golden State Warriors, in the first round of the postseason.

It hasn't been an easy ride for the Clippers thus far, but they were able to pull off a miracle in Game 2 as they rallied from 31 points down to secure an improbable comeback victory against the Dubs. This win comes between two defeats, with the latest coming on Thursday in their own home floor.

Game 4 is scheduled for Sunday, and L.A. will definitely want to win this one in order to keep the series competitive.
