The LA Clippers have reached an agreement on a deal with free agent forward Justise Winslow, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports.

Winslow played just 26 games with the Grizzlies last season, averaging 6.8 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.9 assists in just 19.5 minutes per game. The best season of his young NBA career came during the 2018-19 campaign, when he averaged 12.6 points, 5.4 rebounds, 4.3 assists, and 1.1 steals per game for the Heat.

If there’s one thing Winslow has struggled with throughout his career, it’s shooting efficiency. Winslow is a career 41.1 percent shooter from the field and 32.4 percent shooter from beyond the arc. He’s never shot better than 43 percent from the field, and that came during the aforementioned best statistical season of his career.

The Clippers recently reached agreements on deals with Nicolas Batum, Reggie Jackson, and Kawhi Leonard, essentially running it back with last year’s team. Leonard, however, is expected to miss a good chunk, if not all, of next season as he recovers from surgery on his partially torn left ACL.

The injury to Leonard opened the door for Winslow, whose playmaking, ball-handling, and defense are something the Clippers lacked heading into next season. It’s a low-risk move, given he’s not going to make more than the taxpayer mid-level exception, if that.

The former 10th overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft, Winslow will be playing in his seventh NBA season and third NBA team in that span.
