Last season's Los Angeles Clippers team was a combination of gritty veterans and young players who worked together to make the team good enough to make the playoffs. One of the guys who stood out for them last year was 22-year-old guard Landry Shamet. He showed flashes of becoming a reliable shooter, and although he was inconsistent in the team's brief postseason run, he was viewed as an integral part of their future.

That has never changed, even after the Clippers acquired superstars Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. In fact, one of the team's executives told Keith Smith of RealGM that Shamet will play a key role for them next season.

“We think we’re fine there, but you can never really have enough shooting. (Paul) George and Kawhi (Leonard) are both good shooters. And we were able to keep Landry Shamet too. He’s going to be a huge part of our team.”

In 79 games last season, Shamet shot 43 percent beyond the arc. With Leonard and George obviously attracting most of the opposing teams' defensive attention, he will definitely get a lot of wide-open shots, and if he can consistently knock them down, the Clippers will be an extremely dangerous team.

The Clippers have two of the best players in the league, as well as a bunch of veterans to rely on next season, but they are also giving their young guys the opportunity to shine. Shamet will definitely get his fair share of minutes, and it will be up to him to make the most of it.
