Former California Golden Bears stud guard Tyrone Wallace is finally going to have an opportunity to showcase what his talents in the NBA. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Wallace has signed a two-way deal with the L.A. Clippers. To create a spot on the roster for Wallace, the Clippers cut another two-way player in Jamil Wilson.

Wallace has turned plenty of heads in the G-League, where he is playing for the Agua Caliente Clippers and averaging fantastic numbers, as noted by ClutchPoints’ Tomer Azarly.

The Clippers have found it necessary to add a guard to their backcourt that is ravaged by injuries. Already without opening day starter Patrick Beverley (knee) for the season, the Clippers also saw Austin Rivers and Milos Teodosic get injured recently. Rivers is dealing with bruised heel and will not be available for at least two weeks. Teodosic, meanwhile, left Thursday’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder with a sore plantar fascia and is considered day-to-day while he is re-evaulated Friday evening.

Wallace was the last pick of the 2016 NBA Draft with the Utah Jazz selecting him 60th overall. Wallace was teammates in college with current Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown and helped the Golden Bears reach the Big Dance in 2016 as No. 4 seed. Wallace led the Bears in 2016, his senior year, in points (15.3), assists (4.4), and steals (1.0) per game.

The earliest Wallace can make his regular-season NBA debut is this Saturday at home against the Golden State Warriors. With the Clippers severely lacking guard depth, Wallace has a fair chance of being inserted into the rotation right away.
