Former LA Clippers shooting guard JJ Redick and point guard Chris Paul reminisced about the unforgettable Lob City Clippers team that ran roughshod over the Western Conference earlier this decade.

In The J.J. Redick podcast, the ex-Clippers teammates admitted that it was an “amazing period” that they shared together with the group. per Tomer Azarly of ClutchPoints.

Both JJ Redick and Chris Paul were huge parts of that memorable team, and even though they were never able to escape past the second round of the Western Conference Playoffs, those teams were iconic.

Speaking of those playoff failures, Redick talked with Paul on that exact subject.

“I forgot about that OKC series. That was tough. That was my first year, your third year in L.A. They all kind of run together. They were all disappointing. They were all really disappointing.”

The two players seemed most distraught about one of the most inexplicable comebacks in NBA history: “the Corey Brewer and Josh Smith game.”

The Lob City Clips were riding high after ousting the San Antonio Spurs in the first round of the playoffs in seven games. That was easily one of the best first round series in NBA history, and Paul delivered a game-winning bucket over the outstretched fingertips of Tim Duncan to send the Clips to the next round.

Awaiting them were there Rockets. The Clips rollicked out to a 3-2 lead in the series and were up 19 points late in the game. The Rockets vaulted out to a 40-15 scoring advantage in the fourth quarter – effectively ending the series in one fell swoop.

Though the Lob City Clippers were certainly a joy to behold, there will always be a sense of what might’ve been for this team, which is something that both Redick and Paul must carry with them forever.
