ESPN pundit Stephen A. Smith wasn't having any of Blake Griffin's theory of LeBron James making his way to play with the New York Knicks, but instead criticized the newly re-signed L.A. Clippers forward for not playing up to his potential and being the one to partner with the Cleveland Cavaliers' star.

Griffin went on the Sklar Brothers' View from the Cheap Seats podcast and dropped the following nugget.

“Honestly I don't think he's coming to L.A. Period,” Griffin said of James.

“I think something is brewing with him and his group of guys, I don't know what's gonna happen, but I think something is brewing and I think they're gonna try to make that work.”

Upon hearing that, Smith gave his First Take on the matter during Monday's show, criticizing the big man for choosing to fuel a possible rumor instead of using air time as a potential recruiting tool for the King.

“Yes, I do,” said Smith when asked if he had a problem with Griffin's comments. “And the problem that I have with Blake's comment is that if you were the player that you were supposed to be, maybe they would be talking about coming to Los Angeles to play with you.”

“Blake Griffin is a star, but he's no superstar. But he has superstar talent, I'm just looking for a superstar's heart,” said Smith. “Somebody that wants to take the bull by the horn, literally take over, be the skywalker that he once was, handle his business in such a fashion that everybody is clamoring to come play for you.”

Strong words indeed from the highly-outspoken personality.
