There are growing expectations that the Houston Rockets are going to trade James Harden at some point in the near future. Despite the interest he's drawing across the league, the Los Angeles Clippers are not a team pursuing him, per The Athletic's Kelly Iko and David Aldridge.

This past season was the first year of the Clippers' Kawhi Leonard and Paul George dynamic duo experiment. Leonard elected to depart from the Toronto Raptors in free agency to sign with Los Angeles.

Then, George would force a trade from the Oklahoma City Thunder to join forces with Leonard. While the Clippers had a successful regular season, they were unable to perform up to expectations in the playoffs.

After holding a 3-1 lead in the Western Conference Semifinals, the Clippers would fall victim to the Denver Nuggets. Besides Leonard and George having their own struggles, the entire roster was incapable of seizing back momentum.

Nevertheless, they've replaced Doc Rivers with Tyronn Lue as their head coach. And despite the underwhelming play they displayed in the postseason, the Clippers believe they can still succeed with Leonard and George together.

Even if the Clippers wanted to acquire Harden, they don't have many assets to move for the league's leading scorer. Also, there are reports that Harden would prefer to be traded to the Brooklyn Nets if he is moved, reuniting him with Kevin Durant.

Seeing how they fell short in 2019-20, the Clippers undoubtedly need to add another player that can handle the ball. While Harden could be a popular commodity in the coming days, don't expect Steve Ballmer to pursue him via trade.
