Los Angeles Clippers big man Montrezl Harrell apparently “kind of walks to his own beat a little bit,” according to The Athletic.

Harrell's postgame comments following the Clippers' loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on Jan. 4 were reportedly not received well in the LA locker room.

However, Harrell is just passionate about winning a championship with the Clippers and doesn't want to cause any trouble:

Montrezl Harrell is in a pivotal contract year, with tens of millions of dollars at stake and the kind of career-high production that will serve him well this summer (career-best 19.4 points and 7.2 rebounds in 28.8 minutes per game; field-goal attempts increased from 10.8 per last season to 13.8 this season). Sources close to Harrell, however, refute the idea that his focus is on anything but the common championship goal.

“Everything he does is out of his passion for winning,” one source said. “He kind of walks to his own beat a little bit, but it’s not from a selfish perspective at all.”

Harrell is averaging 19.4 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game on the season for the Clippers. He’s shooting 57.2 percent from the field and 62.9 percent from the free-throw line.

Harrell becomes an unrestricted free agent after this season ends. The Clippers will have a big decision to make with him. Harrell is making $6 million this season. He figures to get a huge payday in the offseason.
