Andrew Luck called it quits in august and it sent the Indianapolis Colts and their fans into a frenzy. This season was full of potential and promise for the Colts but it took a big hit when No. 12 announced his retirement. Indianapolis was forced to give the keys to Jacoby Brissett.

Brissett and the Colts agreed to a two-year, $30 million contract extension before the season. Through seven games, Brissett led the Colts to 5-2 and gave fans hope that he was their quarterback of the future. He threw 14 touchdowns and three interceptions in those games. Over the last five games, the Colts are 1-4 and Brissett has just two touchdown passes with three interceptions. His ability to lead this team long term has been questioned.

The Colts will look to snap a two-game losing streak this week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This is a prove-it game for Brissett after two ugly losses to the Houston Texans and Tennessee Titans.

Brissett Needs to Bring Hope to Indy

Tampa Bay has been middle of the pack defensively this season. They are allowing 358.1 yards per game this season. Through the air, the Bucs rank 31st allowing 281.8 yards per game. The Colts have been playing without their No. 1 receiver T.Y. Hilton and it is unlikely that he will return for this game. Regardless of his status, the Colts should be able to get something going through the air.

The Colts are not strong at the receiver position outside of Hilton. Jack Doyle is reliable but injuries have raised complications. Against the Bucs, there will be no excuses. Indianapolis is still in the AFC South race. They are just two games behind the Texans and split the season series with them. This is a must-win game for Indy.

Indianapolis has scored just 34 points over their last two games. The Bucs are allowing 28.8 points per game this season. A strong offensive performance can do a lot for Brissett and the Colts' season. It would keep them alive for the playoffs and bring some hope that Brissett can lead this team long term.

This is a decision that Indianapolis will have to make soon. Brissett has one year left on his contract. This draft class is full of quarterbacks who have potential at the next level. The Colts could opt to use a second or third-round pick on a quarterback if they do not believe Brissett is the answer. This game will go a long way in making that decision.
