Indianapolis Colts All-Pro linebacker Darius Leonard remains in the concussion protocol, according to Jim Ayello of The Indianapolis Star. Leonard was taken out of the team's Week 2 19-17 win against the Tennessee Titans, then missed their Week 3 27-24 win over the Atlanta Falcons.

Colts coach Frank Reich wouldn't indicate that he would play in Week 4, against the Oakland Raiders, saying:

“It's all protocol related. We have to check all of those boxes. Not sure how that will go for Wednesday and Thursday's practices.”

For the season, Leonard has tallied 18 combined tackles, a sack, a pass deflection, and a quarterback hit—all in two games of play. 2018's Defensive Rookie of the Year and first-team All-Pro, Leonard is a leader for the Colts' defense in all aspects. Even when he can't play, he's staying vocal about his teammates' success.

For instance, Leonard's Twitter feed during Sunday's win over the Falcons:

While Leonard was motivating and commentating on the game, rookie Bobby Okereke took his place. In his debut as a starter, the rookie linebacker recorded eight combined tackles while playing 90% of the snaps. He's a player the coaching staff has raved about.

“Bobby has been progressing along like the rest of the rookies. They’re all working day by day to get better and I can see that in Bobby,” said defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus before Sunday's game, via Kevin Hickey of USA Today. “He’s maturing as we go. He’s a mature competitor to start and that’s why we brought him in.”

If Leonard remains out, the Colts' defense is in good hands.
