The Indianapolis Colts already faced one disappointment when franchise quarterback Andrew Luck retired prior to the 2019 regular season. They don't need another one in superstar kicker and longtime veteran Adam Vinatieri, who had a tough time against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 1.

The 46-year-old Vinatieri is playing in his unprecedented 24th NFL season. He has been a pro's pro in the league since the late-'90s and he joined the Colts in 2006. However, on Sunday against the Chargers, Vinatieri only made one of three field goal attempts and converting one of two extra points. Indy would lose 30-24 against the Chargers in L.A., but head coach Frank Reich does not appear to be concerned with where Vinatieri's at.

Per Kevin Bowen of ESPN Radios's 1075 The Fan:

“No worries. Yeah, we are disappointed we lost the game,” Reich said. “In all three phases, we could have played better. As units, individually, some guys played better than others. We are all looking to make improvements. Obviously, Adam didn't have his best day. But I just keep putting into context, this guy is an elite, elite player. Not just ‘was.' I see it every day in practice that he kicks. I've watched him in pre-game, I see it every day in practice, no concerns that there's any deteriorating of anything physically, and certainly not mentally. This guy is the toughest mental athlete I've been around. So, no worries.”

Vinatieri missed a 46-yard field goal to end the first half and later went wide left on a 29-yarder in the fourth quarter. The sum total of the vet's two missed field goals and one extra-point could have brought the Colts over the top with a one-point win against the Bolts.

The Colts continue on the road, playing the 1-0 Tennessee Titans next Sunday in Week 2.
