The Indianapolis Colts entered the 2019 offseason with over $100 million in cap space, more than any other team in the league. After signing wide receiver Devin Funchess to a one-year deal worth up to $13 million, the Colts are turning to look at their secondary and they may be hoping to pair former Green Bay Packer Kentrell Brice with their 22-year-old first round safety, Malik Hooker.

According to Rob Demovsky of ESPN, Brice is visiting with the Colts today, after meeting with the Houston Texans yesterday. He added that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers also may be interested in Brice, who Green Bay decided not to tender after signing Adrian Amos, a former member of their division rival Chicago Bears.

In 14 games (10 starts) with the Packers in 2018, Brice recorded 50 total tackles, two passes defended, and one sack. Brice was an undrafted free agent from Louisiana Tech and played in 36 games an for the Packers over the last three seasons, tallying a total of 99 tackles, six pass breakups, and one interception.

The consensus among Packers fans appears to be that Brice has the athleticism to make some big hits on opposing players, but he has issues covering receivers down the field as well as wrapping up and bringing down ballcarriers. Pro Football Focus also ranked him in the bottom-six among 93 eligible safeties.

In his first two seasons in the NFL, Brice's new teammate, Hooker, has eight passes defended and five interceptions. Hooker's skills have the potential to hide some of Brice's faults, but Brice will have to earn his spot starting next to him first.

After initially being linked to running back Le'Veon Bell, who has since signed with the New York Jets, the Colts are rumored to be going after former Miami Dolphin and Philadelphia Eagle Jay Ajayi. With Andrew Luck and Frank Reich, the future looks bright in Indy, whether they use their cap space this year, or hang on to it for next offseason.
