The Indianapolis Colts will be getting starting safety Malik Hooker back from a torn meniscus. According to Mike Chappell of Fox59.com, Hooker stated that he is going to play in Week 8 against the Denver Broncos.

Hooker has been sidelined since the Colts' 27-24 win over the Atlanta Falcons in Week 3. He felt what was described as ‘discomfort' in his knee and that created the expectation that he would miss ‘a little bit of time.'

“And just digging down into it a little bit more it looks like he’s going to miss a little bit of time,” Colts head coach Frank Reich said after the team's Week 3 matchup with the Falcons, via the team's official website.

With Hooker sidelined, the Colts turned to rookie Khari Willis to make an impact in Hooker's absence. Willis was a fourth-round draft selection out of Michigan State and has held his own after being relied upon to make an impact.

Hooker has struggled to stay healthy since entering the NFL. He underwent double sports hernia surgery and had a torn labrum repaired surgically during his final season at Ohio State. He then tore his ACL and MCL in his right knee during his rookie season, which caused him to be out for the remainder of the season after playing in six games.

The injury problems continued for Hooker in his second season. He played in 14 games in 2017 after missing two games due to a hip injury. His latest injury was a torn meniscus that was projected to keep him sidelined for four-to-six weeks.

The Colts receive a dynamic impact from Hooker when he is on the field and he should provide a boost when he returns to the lineup.
