The New York Knicks added key players to their lineup last summer, with the hopes of playoffs basketball for the first time in four years. The likes of Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah's contracts made headlines, while the signing of Courtney Lee flew right under the radar.

The 31-year-old Western Kentucky product recently talked about his NBA journey, eventually leading him to The Big Apple to play for one of the most storied franchises in NBA history.

Along his way in the NBA, a situation that stood out to him was the day he was traded to the New Jersey Nets. In 2009 following his impressive rookie season with the Orlando Magic, Lee was shipped from a championship contender to one of the leagues worst teams.

Lee described how he felt and what the contrast was like between the two:

“Tough. I went from sugar to s–t, man. Cream of the crop to the bottom. Going to the NBA Finals to 12-70. Fans wasn’t showing up, and when they did show up, they had paper bags on they face like, We’re horrible.”

After already playing for five different franchises in his career, Lee is hoping that New York will be his long-term home. This season, the Knicks are improved with some new blood in the fold and seem to be playoff bound.

With averages of 10.0 points, 2.9 rebounds, 1.8 assists, it wouldn't be surprising to see Lee become a staple in the Knicks lineup for the near future.
