The Dallas Cowboys kicked the 2019 NFL season opener off in spectacular fashion with a win over the New York Giants. Quarterback Dak Prescott wasted no time in calling out the Philadelphia Eagles during the game.

Prescott connected with wide receiver Amari Cooper for a 21-yard touchdown pass during the second quarter. According to RJ Ochoa of Blogging The Boys, he then threw some shade at Philadelphia:

There is certainly some history behind Prescott's comments. He and Cooper were able to torch the Eagles for 217 yards and 3 touchdowns during the 2018 campaign. It seems the lackluster coverage by the Giants' secondary provided them with some nostalgia.

Prescott was able to back up his talk by going on to complete 25-of-32 passes for 405 yards and four touchdowns. Interestingly enough, Cooper was not even the most prolific Cowboys' receiver in Week 1. That distinction instead went to wide receiver Michael Gallup, who finished with seven receptions for 158 yards.

Prescott's stellar performance could not have come at a better time as he looks to secure a lucrative long-term deal. Recent Reports indicates that a new contract could be well on its way following their win over the Giants. Regardless, it is safe to assume that his comments will not sit well when it comes time to play against the Eagles.

After just one week, it has become evident that Dallas and Philadelphia are the two teams looking to spearhead the NFC East.

Prescott's jab should provide even more intrigue for their showdown by the time Week 7 rolls around.
