Prior to the NFL adjusting their current catch rule this offseason, there has been much controversy over the years that have occurred that has centered around the regulation.

One of which is the notorious Dez Bryant non-catch play in the divisional round of the 2014 playoffs that led to the Green Bay Packers topping the Dallas Cowboys in the final minute of the fourth quarter. With that in mind, a fan was recently spotted sporting their pickup truck with the photo of the play with the license plate stating that Bryant caught the ball.

It was a controversial play that potentially changed the outcome of that game that could have seen the Cowboys make a serious push to the Super Bowl that year. Bryant had grabbed control of the ball over Sam Shields while taking three steps toward the goal line before tumbling down having the ground cause the ball to move in his hands before resecuring as he laid in the end zone.

It was a play that could have gone either way, but the referees went by the letter of the rule implemented then that a receiver must maintain control of the ball all the way through the process of hitting the ground. The fact that the ball moved when he stumbled to the ground led to the officials ruling it wasn't a catch. Instead, the team fell short in the playoffs to what could have been a promising season that could have coincided with another Vince Lombardi Trophy.

Ultimately, it's going to remain one of those much talked about plays in playoff history that could have changed the direction of the Cowboys' fate in the postseason that year. Simply put, there will always be a discussion about how this should have played out on the field that afternoon.
