The Dallas Cowboys are set to make their return from their bye week with a crucial matchup against ahead against the Tennessee Titans on Monday night.

However, it appears the team will be without one of their key pieces defensively, as defensive tackle David Irving is dealing with a high-ankle sprain that will likely keep him out of action against the Titans, according to Jon Machota of The Dallas Morning News.

Irving had suffered the injury in practice this week, which has led to some doubt that he would be able to give it a go this week due to the timing of the ailment and how severe it is. This is typically something that takes a few weeks to fully recover from due to the chance of re-injury being a factor. Irving had indicated he expects to miss about a month of action, but that hasn't been clarified by the Cowboys up to this point in time.

The 25-year-old has played in just two games since returning from a four-game suspension to begin the season for violating the league's substance abuse policy. Irving is coming off his most productive game of the season, recording his first sack along with a pair of tackles in the 20-17 loss to the Washington Redskins.

The Cowboy had initially hoped that he could provide some much-needed pass-rush presence on the defensive line as he was coming off a career-high 7.0 sacks last year.
