Although the NFL and NFLPA has put an emphasis on following the safety protocols that were set heading into training camp, players on the Dallas Cowboys have also taken matters into their own hands.

According to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter, the Cowboys have formed a players-only, virtual bubble:

A large number of Dallas Cowboys are now forming their own virtual training camp bubble before on-field practices start Friday and they will begin checking into the Omni Hotel next to the team’s practice facility, league sources say

The plan from the Cowboys is part of the players' efforts to double down on the precautions taken by the team. This should help pay some dividends for players still getting acclimated following an unprecedented offseason due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The restrictions placed in response to the ongoing pandemic have offered up its own set of challenges for teams trying to prepare for the 2020 NFL season. This is especially true for Dallas considering all significant changes they made to their coaching staff following a disappointing 2019 campaign.

The Cowboys were recently able to activate wide receiver Jon'vea Johnson and cornerback Saivion Smith to the active roster following their stints as the only two players to land on the Reserved/COVID-19 list since the team re-opened their facilities. Regardless, it seems players are doing what they can to get up to speed without exposing themselves to any further risks.

Dallas had three players opt out of the 2020 season in fullback Jamize Olawale, cornerback Maurice Canady and rookie receiver Stephen Guidry.
