The Dallas Cowboys lost to the San Francisco 49ers at home in Sunday's NFC Wild Card playoff game, 23-17. It was the Cowboys 11th straight playoff appearance without reaching the conference title game. That's the most in NFL history since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger. In seven of those seasons, they lost their first playoff game.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones expressed his extreme disappointment after the game. He was also asked about the potential for a change at head coach. His answer only left people with more questions.

ESPN reporter Ed Werder captured his response.

Jones responded “I don't even want to discuss anything like that at this particular time.”

The future of head coach Mike McCarthy is sure to be a topic of conversation heading into the offseason. Dallas appeared unprepared for a lot of the game, as they fell behind 23-7 to the visitors.

The Cowboys could not get out of their own way. They committed 14 penalties in the loss. That's tied for the most penalties in Dallas Cowboys playoff history. Many of the penalties came at the worst times, negating a number of big offensive plays or giving the 49ers first downs.

After the gut-wrenching loss, fans were seen throwing trash onto the field, appearing to be aiming at the officials. Demarcus Lawrence ended up being hit by some of the trash.

This season was expected to be different for Jerry Jones and the Cowboys. They finished the season with the best offense in football. Their defense led the league in creating turnovers. Yet, the organization found itself in the same place nonetheless.
