Ohio State star Mike Weber was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the 2019 NFL Draft to help take pressure off of superstar running back Ezekiel Elliott. Dallas also took Memphis running back Tony Pollard to beef up their backfield.

Unfortunately for the Cowboys, Weber suffered a knee injury on Saturday during practice. There has been no news about the severity of the injury, but knee injuries and MRI's are always a scary subject.

Pro Football Talk broke the news of the injury and also shared a quote from Cowboys' head coach Jason Garrett about the injury.

“Yeah, he hurt his knee in the practice so they’re going to get an MRI and just kind of check it out.”

Hopefully, the MRI shows no serious damage and the Cowboys' rookie will be able to get back on the field soon. He had a great career at Ohio State and his running style should mesh well with Elliott. It was obvious that Elliott was happy to have a fellow Buckeye in the same backfield with him.

Last season at Ohio State, Weber ended up carrying the football 172 times for 954 yards and five touchdowns. Those numbers average out to an impressive 5.5 yards per carry. He also caught 21 passes for 112 yards and a touchdown on the season.

Weber has the potential and talent to become a very good NFL running back. Starting his career with a knee injury isn't great news, but if it's something that he can bounce back from quickly he should earn himself a role in 2019.
