The basketball program of the Oklahoma State Cowboys will not be able to join the Big Dance or any postseason events in 2022 after the NCAA has denied the school's appeal, according to Matt Norlander of CBS Sports.

BREAKING—The NCAA rejected Oklahoma State’s appeal and has banned the MBB program from the 2022 postseason, sources told @CBSSports. This is the first postseason ban handed down by the NCAA in relation to the 2017 FBI investigation into bribery/fraud in CBB recruiting.

The Cowboys were supposed to have served their postseason suspension in the 2020-21 college basketball season, but since the appeal was ongoing at the time, Oklahoma State was able to participate in the Big 12 Conference Tournament and join the March Madness. In the National Tournament, the Cowboys, led by 2021 NBA Draft top pick Cade Cunningham was able to reach the second round and finish the season with a 21-9 record.

In a case that went through the traditional NCAA peer review process rather than the IARP, the Cowboys were banned from the 2020–21 postseason, but their appeal allowed the team to participate. If their appeal is overturned, it is presumed that the ban would be enforced for this upcoming season.
