Dallas Cowboys veteran linebacker Sean Lee has voiced that he wants to play in 2019, which is great news for the team. However, Lee's injury woes in recent years have opened up opportunities for other players to make a name for themselves.

Rookie linebacker Leighton Vander Esch was brilliant last season and the return of Jaylon Smith lived up to expectations as well.

Now that Lee is presumably healthy, it obviously leaves the linebacker position a bit hazy in regards to who will be getting the most playing time. Unfortunately, Lee is an extremely good player, but his constant injuries left the Cowboys no choice in recent years. Hence, the decision to draft several linebackers.

If the Cowboys choose to cut Lee and allow their young guys free reign with the team's defense, they could save $7 million by doing so. It would be a tough way for Lee to end his time with the Cowboys, but he has missed 51 games in his nine-year career.

Dallas has not had the option to really see how things will play out with Lee considering his struggles to stay on the field. Now with Smith and Vander Esch leading the way for Dallas' young defense, this could very well be the end for Lee in Dallas.

The Cowboys have a solid unit on offense now that Amari Cooper has joined the roster, but the defense has always been a step behind in recent years. A lot of the defenses struggles are unfortunately in due part to Lee missing so many games. Lee has been the focal point of the defense for many seasons, but now that has changed for Dallas.

Lee won't have a hard time finding a new team in free agency if the Cowboys do end up releasing him.
