Veteran players have not been shy about expressing their disdain for the preseason. That does not appear to be the case for Dallas Cowboys linebacker Sean Lee.

Lee has missed the first two preseason games while dealing with a sprained knee. According to Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk he is hoping to see some action against the Houston Texans this week:

“I feel great, great to be back with the guys for practice, something I always enjoy,” Lee said. “The trainers did an unbelievable job with this knee. I’m ready to keep building, continue to progress.

“It’s good to get live reps, particularly as a linebacker. Tackling live is something we don’t do so being able to get that under your belt, that live full rep at full speed always helps.”

It is encouraging to see Lee anxious to get back onto the field. The Cowboys have high expectations going into the 2019 NFL season after spending the offseason securing their key pieces on defense. It is clear that the veteran is looking forward to being a part of it.

Regardless, Lee's track record with injuries suggests that Dallas may be looking to take a cautious approach with him. He has struggled to stay healthy throughout his career and that was certainly the case last year when he missed nine games in the 2018 campaign.

Lee's desire to play in the preseason is still understandable. He made the switch from weakside to strongside linebacker this offseason and is likely hoping to get in as much work as he can at the new spot before the start of the regular season.
