The Dallas Cowboys are coming off a disappointing loss in Week 7 on the road against the Washington Redskins that has pushed them under the .500 mark.

Things may have become a bit more difficult with sprained MCL injuries to both All-Pro right guard Zack Martin and tight end Geoff Swaim, according to Brandon George of The Dallas Morning News.

This could be a potentially tough situation as Zack Martin has proven to be one of the league's best guards that has brought a tremendous amount of stability to the Cowboys' offensive line throughout his career. It is a situation that the team will continue to watch closely as it's an injury that could sideline him for a few games. He has earned much recognition for his play in his first four years in the league with a Pro Bowl nod in each campaign along with two First-Team All-Pro selections, and a two Second-Team All-Pro nods.

Meanwhile, Swaim has stepped into a prominent role at the tight end position this year with Jason Witten deciding to retire after 15 seasons. He has hauled in 19 catches on 24 targets for 205 receiving yards and a touchdown. Swaim hasn't had any breakout performances, but he has remained a reliable receiving option notching three catches all but twice. If he were to miss any playing time, it could thrust Rico Gathers and rookie Dalton Shultz into bigger roles in the passing game as both have been sparsely used this season.

That said, the Cowboys are in the midst of their bye week, which should give both Swaim and Martin enough time to be ready to go for Week 9 action against the Tennessee Titans. Dallas is currently two games back of the Redskins in the NFC East standings that the team still have four more divisional tilts with a pair against the Philadephia Eagles.
