The Dallas Cowboys have emerged as favorites — once again — to be the team that acquires Jamal Adams via trade from the New York Jets. Tony Pauline of Pro Football Network shared what the Jets would want if Dallas were to trade for Adams.

“I’m told right now that the player the Jets would ask for in a trade for Adams would be right tackle La’el Collins. That’s the player that they want. That’s the player that they’re going to target…If you’re a Jets fan, you know one thing — you can’t start the season with Chuma Edoga starting at right tackle.”

Throughout the offseason, the Jets have made it a priority to bolster their offensive line. Besides drafting Mekhi Becton with the No. 11 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, New York notably added Connor McGovern, George Fant and Greg Van Roten in free agency.

Still, even with the new additions, the Jets are currently projected to start Chuma Edoga at right tackle. As Pauline points out, that is something that New York wouldn't prefer to do in the upcoming season. Edoga allowed six sacks on just 421 offensive snaps in his rookie season in 2019.

Given that, La'El Collins appears to be a player that the Jets have their sights on if Dallas wants to do business for the All-Pro safety. Of course, besides Collins, the Cowboys would need to include draft picks in any offer for Adams.

Without a doubt, the Jets would love to shore up their offensive line by inserting someone like Collins at right tackle. However, it is unclear if Dallas is willing to part ways with the standout right tackle. Collins signed a five-year, $50 million extension with the Cowboys last September.
