For the first time in his career, New York Knicks point guard Derrick Rose will become a free agent this summer. With all the uncertainties about his future, it won't come as a surprise if he decides to explore his options and make the most of the market.

However, the former MVP shared, via Lonnae O'Neal of The Undefeated, that even if he'll listen to pitches from other teams, he would love to remain with the Knicks.

“I would love to stay here. I love my teammates, I love the coaches, I love the front office. But this will be the first time that I will hit free agency, so I want to take advantage of everything and just see what the free agency system is all about.”

“I don’t care about the system … I want to be at peace with myself, spiritually, emotionally and mentally. You know when you have them three things clicking, I feel like that’s when I play my best basketball.”

“I want to win.”

Rose is expected to receive multiple offers from around the league. However, one thing that can limit the interest he'll generate from other teams is how healthy they perceive him to be, as he already has a long list of ailments he has suffered throughout his career.

If the Knicks extend an offer with a reasonable amount, and Rose accepts it, they can continue having a skilled point guard willing to run the triangle offense for them. Should he sign with another team though, it will mark the start of their quest to find a replacement for him and immerse that player into their culture and system in place. Either way, it will be a very busy summer for Rose and the Knicks.
