Miami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores has yet to have a concrete idea regarding the current condition of starting gunslinger Tua Tagovailoa, as quoted by Safid Deen. The rookie previously jammed his finger during a team practice prior to their encounter against the New York Jets in Week 12 which caused him to sit out the game.

The former Alabama product had a forgettable outing in his most recent game in Week 11 against the Denver Broncos where he was benched due to a dismal performance on the field. He could only watch on the sidelines as veteran quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick was inserted in the game and took over the playmaking duties. However, he also failed to bring the team to the finish line as the Dolphins ultimately succumbed to a 20-13 defeat.

With Tagovailoa's absence due to the thumb injury, Flores was forced to slot veteran quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick as the starter once again in Week 12 where he had a decent performance under center. He threw for 257 yards on 24-of-39 passes along with two touchdowns and four sacks.

Fitzpatrick found help in wideout DeVante Parker who generated 119 yards on eight receptions while tight end Mike Gesicki added 35 yardsand a TD  on two catches en route to a 20-3 victory.

The Dolphins eventually tightened their grip on the second spot in the AFC East division with a 7-4 win-loss tally to remain in the mix of the playoff race. Amid the uncertainty of the situation, the team can still afford to buy time for Tua Tagovailoa's full recovery as they go up against a depleted Cincinnati Bengals squad in Week 13 proceedings.
