The Miami Dolphins have made some significant changes this offseason. It appears no one is happier about all these new changes than wide receiver DeVante Parker.

Despite his struggles, the Dolphins, who have a new coaching staff, signed Parker to a two-year extension this offseason. According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, he is glad to be entering the 2019 NFL season with a clean slate:

While his address remains the same, Parker said that he considers it a “fresh start” because of the change in coaching staffs and he’s excited to be back with the team.

“They have confidence in me again, have trust in me, have faith in me to sign me back again,” Parker said. “I just love the atmosphere, the fans, and everyone here. I’m just glad I was able to be here again.”

Parker's comments are certainly understandable. There had been plenty of speculation regarding his future in Miami under the previous regime. He will now have a fresh opportunity to prove himself as a viable option in the passing game.

It is no secret that Parker has struggled to find his footing in the NFL since being taken with the 14th overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. Although he possesses prototypical size and speed for a top wideout, he has been unable to put it together thus far partly due to multiple injuries.

The 26-year-old finished the 2018 campaign with just 24 receptions for 309 yards and one touchdown in 11 games. Regardless, the Dolphins are optimistic that he will emerge as a top option for veteran quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick this season.
