Carson Wentz isn't the only one in the organization put at ease by his new contract extension with the Philadelphia Eagles. Coach Doug Pedersen is also thrilled to gain the sense of stability that comes with Wentz being firmly cemented as his team's quarterback of the immediate present and long-term future.

“It feels great,” Pederson said of Wentz's extension, per Eagles writer Dave Spadaro. “In this league, a lot of things revolve around your quarterback and for us to have been blessed to have. . . .Obviously, [we] moved up the draft board to get Carson at the No. 2 spot a couple of years ago and now to extend him gives us stability on offense, gives our organization stability. I’m excited about that and obviously the chance to continue to work with him.”

Wentz signed a four-year, $128 million contract extension with Philadelphia on Thursday. The deal includes a whopping $107 million worth of guaranteed money, the same amount the Seattle Seahawks awarded franchise quarterback Russell Wilson last month in his four-year extension, a deal that totaled $140 million.

At 26 years old, Wentz is barely on the cusp of his NFL prime, with the best years of his career seemingly yet to come. Considering how effective he’s been when healthy over his first three seasons with the Eagles, it’s safe to say the team is making a prudent bet on the second overall pick of the 2016 NFL Draft.

In 11 games last season, Wentz threw for 3,074 yards, 21 touchdowns, and seven interceptions while completing a career-best 69.6 percent of his passes.
