Minnesota Vikings quarterback Case Keenum is claiming that his family needed protection while sitting among the Philadelphia Eagles fans at Lincoln Financial Field during the NFC title game.

Keenum, 29, revealed just how frightening the ordeal was for his family per Justin Gaard of KFAN FM in Minneapolis.

“It was tough. I’m not gonna tell you any stories. … There was some situations that were not good,” the married Keenum said Tuesday. “I’m glad I had some of my friends there to intercede. It was tough on everyone, not just us on the field.”

Surprising in Philadelphia, the place fans once booed Santa Claus for spreading Christmas cheer.

The soon-to-be free agent journeyman finally dipped down to his usual NFL standard this past Sunday. In his team's rough 38-7 loss, Keenum could only muster a stat-line of 272 yards, one touchdown and two ugly interceptions on an inefficient 28-of-48 passing.

Apparently, however, Keenum's awful day on the field was mirrored by his family's situation in the stands.

It wasn't all bad for the Keenum family during the year of 2017. Keenum, a man who's spent six NFL seasons with four teams, is set to become a free agent in March, his perfect moment.

Throwing for 3,547 yards and 22 touchdowns to just seven interceptions in 15 games during his first-season in Minnesota, the Keenum family is looking at a significant pay raise to the $950K base he made this past season.

Competitors are many, coming in the name of Kirk Cousins, Matthew Stafford, Drew Brees, Derek Carr, and even teammate Sam Bradford, but at the very least, Keenum should find himself in a much better financial situation that he's ever experienced at this level.

Heckling visiting families or not, Eagles fans won't be able to stop the Case Keenum free agent money that's expected to come in this offseason.
