The Philadelphia Eagles are loaded at the wide receiver position as they enter the 2019 season. Among the guys who are trying to earn a roster spot, Charles Johnson is one of the more interesting stories.

While Johnson attempts to make an NFL comeback, the 30-year-old wideout spoke about his time with the Eagles so far. Johnson is making a return to the NFL after spending some time with the Orlando Apollos in the AAF league.

Via Bob Ford in the Philadelphia Inquirer:

“I’m just excited to be out here playing at a high level, not putting too much pressure or too much thought into it,” he said after practice this week, having followed a long workout of receiving drills with a session of catching tennis balls as they were shot from close range. “I’m enjoying my teammates and enjoying each day. That’s what I’m here for. The decisions are made upstairs. If things don’t work out, I’ve just got to be sure I left everything on the field.”

Johnson began his career with the Green Bay Packers after being drafted in the seventh round of the 2013 NFL Draft. During his first training camp, Johnson displayed his speed and athleticism but would land on Green Bay's practice squad.

Then, the following season, Johnson would land with the Minnesota Vikings from 2014-16, catching 60 passes for 834 yards and two touchdowns. Unfortunately, injuries have hindered Johnson's chances of sticking with a team in the NFL.

Johnson is now with his fifth team in his NFL career, still trying to prove himself as someone who can contribute for an NFL roster. The speedy veteran will continue his journey to landing on an NFL roster by catching passes from Carson Wentz, who's had his own struggles with injuries.
