Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Chris Long has made it clear he doesn't know if he wants to play this year and has now pushed a roster bonus to the start of training camp to give him more time to decide on what exactly he would like to do.

Long's contract called for a $1 million bonus to be paid out on May 1st but Field Yates of ESPN reports that payment has been moved back to training camp.

Just last week Long said that in March he wanted to play, but now he isn't so sure, so he is going to take time to think about it.

“In March, I really wanted to play,” Long said via Pro Football Talk. “Now, I don’t know. . . .

“I definitely am not feeling like going to OTAs. We’ll see what happens. If there’s any place that will make you try to do it again, it’s Philly. But it’s tough.”

Long wants to have a big role on the team if he does come back, and pushing it back to training camp gives him plenty of time to see exactly how the team is shaping up, and what role he might have on it.

The Eagles traded away Michael Bennett to the Patriots but Vinny Curry, Derek Barnett, Brandon Graham and 2018 fourth-round pick Josh Sweat are all on the roster. The Eagles also added Shareef Miller in the fourth round last Saturday through the draft.

This is a story that could take all the way until training camp to work itself out, but there is no doubt if he comes back Long if nothing else is going to be a good leader for some of the younger guys on the team.
