Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson will undergo core muscle surgery on Tuesday and is likely done for the season as a result, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Jackson suffered a groin/abdominal injury back in the Eagles' Week 2 loss to the Atlanta Falcons. He was sidelined through Week 8 before finally returning against the Chicago Bears on Sunday. However, he re-aggravated his injury after one series.

The 32-year-old is now in his second stint with Philadelphia, as he signed with the club as a free agent back in March.

His 2019 campaign got off to a great start, as he logged eight catches for 154 yards and a couple of touchdowns in a season-opening win over the Washington Redskins, but it has been a struggle for him health-wise ever since.

Jackson, who played his collegiate football at the University of California, was originally selected by the Eagles in the second round (49th pick overall) of the 2008 NFL Draft.

He spent the first six years of his career in Philly, making three Pro Bowl appearances. His best season came in 2013, when he hauled in 82 receptions for 1,332 yards and nine scores.

The Long Beach, Ca. native then joined the Redskins that ensuing offseason, spending four years in Washington. He then linked up with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for two seasons before circling back to the Eagles this past offseason.

Jackson's injury is a devastating blow for a Philadelphia team that is 5-4 and is fighting for first place in the NFC East. The Eagles will have a bye this week before taking on the New England Patriots on Nov. 17.
