The Philadelphia Eagles are on the verge of looking like a very different team than they were before the start of the 2020 season. After parting ways with head coach Doug Pederson at the end of the season, the Eagles are also reportedly close to trading away quarterback Carson Wentz.

But according to a former Eagles player who spoke to Rob Maaddi of AP News, the reason for the team’s recent struggles isn’t Pederson or even Wentz:

This would seem to be pointing the finger at Eagles management, an opinion that is apparently shared by many in the league. Howie Roseman is running the show as general manager under owner Jeffrey Lurie. Roseman was the one who selected Wentz with the second overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft and helped build a Super Bowl winner, and he was also behind the decision to hire former Indianapolis Colts offensive coordinator Nick Sirianni as the team’s new head coach.

Now, the Eagles are reportedly looking for a Wentz trade haul that would rival what the Detroit Lions got for Matthew Stafford. However, this may be too much to give up for opposing teams, especially considering Wentz's contract and horrendous play in 2020.

Even if many believe the reason for the Eagles' woes doesn't have anything to do with their former head coach or soon-to-be former quarterback, what is clear is, for better or worse, this same management team will make the important decisions that will shape the future in Philadelphia.
