A couple of offseasons can change everything in the NFL. After 2016, the Philadelphia Eagles had a problem on their hands; their receiving corps was devoid of talent. Now, in 2019, it can be dubbed as the NFL's best, which Pro Football Focus did.

PFF took a gander at each NFL team's receiving corps and ranked them accordingly; the Eagles finished at the top. As their analysis team said,

The Eagles took steps this offseason to improve what was already an above-average unit in 2018 with the additions of DeSean Jackson and J.J. Arcega-Whiteside. Jackson showed last year that he hasn’t lost a step, leading all NFL players with 50-plus targets in average depth of target at 19.6 yards while grading 25th at the position. Arcega-Whiteside came in at 23rd on the PFF Big Board after hauling in a draft class-leading 19 contested catches in 2018.

The No. 1 ranking is a 16 spot jump from where they previously stood entering 2018, according to PFF. The Eagles finished ahead of the Atlanta Falcons, Los Angeles Rams, Kansas City Chiefs, and Houston Texans, respectively. Interestingly enough, they did so without boasting one Pro Bowler from the 2018 season.

The massive bump up can be crediting to the roster-building done throughout the offseason. Before, Alshon Jeffrey and Nelson Agholor led the group, with Zach Ertz being the first option as a tight end. Now, Desean Jackson and J.J. Arcega-Whiteside can call The Linc home. As stated months ago, while looking through the Eagles' depth chart at both receiver and tight end, I noted;

Two years ago, I wouldn’t have placed the Eagles’ receiving corps amongst the elite groups boasted by the rest of the NFL. It was, at best, above average. But in ’19, it’s hard not to rank them amongst the league’s best, in terms of depth.

Pro Football Focus agrees.
