Philadelphia Eagles tight end Zach Ertz had a standout season last year, catching 116 passes for 1,163 yards and eight touchdowns but even after the impressive year he has a chip on his shoulder. Ertz points back to a goal he had during his rookie season that he thinks he can continue to build on this year.

During his rookie season, he told the world he wanted to be one of the best tight ends to ever play the game and with Rob Gronkowski gone, he can start getting some of that attention.

“I’ve said it since my rookie year, which I can’t believe was seven years ago,” Ertz said, via Philly.com. “I said I wanted to be one of the best to ever play the tight end position, not only in this organization, but anywhere. … People are saying there are one or two guys that are better than me. My goal is to be the best. So I have a huge chip on my shoulder going into this year.”

The two guys he seems to be pointing towards are Travis Kelce and George Kittle who edged him out last season in the All-Pro voting, and Ertz hasn't seemed to forget it.

Ertz's season last year was impressive but he didn't get the attention and was often overshadowed with what Kittle was able to do.

Ertz's goal this season should be to get 116 catches like he did last year because if he does the Eagles are going to have a lot of success, and that is most important.
