The Atlanta Falcons have entered “heightened” protocols following another COVID-19 outbreak.

A day after a second Falcons player was placed on the NFL’s reserve/COVID-19 list since the start of the 2020 season, the Falcons are taking more precautions in practice.

“We definitely had different meetings today, completely virtual,” Falcons starting quarterback Matt Ryan said, via D. Orlando Ledbetter of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

“We were all in separate rooms and in our own space. Even in practice, masks on our helmets. I think we are doing everything we can to keep it at bay and do the best we can under the guidelines that we’ve been given.”

The Falcons fired head coach Dan Quinn after starting the season 0-5.

The new protocols the team is taking in terms of virtual meetings won't help interim head coach Raheem Morris and his staff teach the players the new schemes they are going to run, but the safety of the players is very important.

The Falcons will look to get their first win of the season in Week 6 against the Minnesota Vikings, who are 1-3 on the season and coming off a tough loss to the Seattle Seahawks in Week 5 on the road.

The New York Giants and Jets, along with the Falcons, are the only teams in the NFL who haven't won a game yet this season. Ryan, who will be a future Hall of Famer one day, has never started a season 0-5, so this all very new to the former MVP.
