Despite Chris Lindstrom breaking his foot in Sunday's loss to the Minnesota Vikings, the Atlanta Falcons rookie proceeded to play in nine more offensive snaps. After the game, Falcons players were “impressed” with the toughness that the rookie showed in Week 1 while playing with a broken foot.

Per Vaughn McClure in ESPN.com:

“That's pretty impressive,” quarterback Matt Ryan said of Lindstrom playing with the broken foot. “Chris is one tough dude.”

Said right tackle Jake Matthews, “He told us he played on it after the game. He's a tough dude, so I'm not surprised he did that. It shows the character he has and how much he cares about the team and how well he wants to do. Obviously, it sucks he's going to be out for a little bit.”

“He's tough, and I don't know what else you can say about the man,” said fellow rookie first-rounder Kaleb McGary, the starting right tackle. “That's a hell of thing to play nine snaps on a busted foot. I wouldn't want to. And I don't imagine Chris really wanted to. But Chris is just so tough. He's a hell of player. We're lucky to have him, that's for damn sure.”

Lindstrom suffered the injury in the third quarter of the game after he got tangled up with Danielle Hunter. With that in mind, the rookie guard continued to hold his own against the defensive front of the Vikings.

That was until he was forced to come out of the game in the fourth quarter—when the pain became too intense. As a result, Wes Schweitzer came in to replace him at right guard in a goal-line situation.

Following his MRI, Lindstrom was placed on injured reserve and will be in a walking boot for eight weeks after his surgery on Wednesday. The earliest that the rookie guard can return is Week 10 against the New Orleans Saints.

With Lindstrom missing time, the team will be moving Jamon Brown to right guard to replace their resilient rookie.
