Dirk Koetter, who was just fired as the head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, may not be unemployed for long.

According to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Koetter is currently the leading candidate for the Atlanta Falcons' offensive coordinator job.

This wouldn't be the first time Koetter served as the offensive coordinator, as he served in the position from 2012 to 2014.

Koetter left the position in 2014, shortly after then-head coach Mike Smith was dismissed. Smith's departure, which came after the Falcons weren't considered contenders for two years in a row, also heralded the departure of Koetter and then-defensive coordinator Mike Nolan. Koetter said he wanted to stay in his position at the time, but left because he knew that the incoming Falcons head coach would hire his own staff.

Koetter's record with the Buccaneers, however, left much to be desired, as he finished out his term with a 19-29 record, including 5-11 this season. The Buccaneers terminated Koetter after the team lost 34-32 to the Falcons.

The Falcons are currently cleaning house, as they just fired Steve Sarkisian on Monday, along with their defensive and special teams coordinators.

While Dirk Koetter is the head candidate for the offensive coordinator job, Darrell Bevell — formerly the Seattle Seahawks' offensive coordinator — is also being considered for the position.
