The Atlanta Falcons recently began handing out contracts like they were hosting the Oprah Winfrey show. Guys like Grady Jarrett and Deion Jones received new deals but Julio Jones is still waiting for his.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Jones will still report to training camp despite there being no new deal. Jones has been longing for a new contract for the past couple of seasons with no results just yet.

Last offseason, Jones sat out a few of the practices in hopes to receive a new long-term contract. His holdout came without a positive outcome. Although, Jones still remained committed to working his way towards a new deal.

This season, Jones enters the year with two years left on his current contract but the All-Pro wideout wants to be paid like a top receiver in the NFL. Currently, Jones is set to make $9.6 million in 2019. That makes him the 13th highest-paid wide receiver in the NFL this season.

That puts him behind guys like Allen Robinson and Alshon Jeffery in terms of salary this season. Nonetheless, Jones has witnessed guys like Brandin Cooks, Odell Beckham Jr., and Antonio Brown all garner new deals in the past two seasons.

Last offseason, Beckham Jr. received a five-year, $90 million deal that made him the highest-paid receiver in the NFL. Then, Cooks was given a five-year, $81 million deal when he was traded to the Los Angeles Rams.

This offseason, Brown conjured a new contract out of thin air after being traded to the Oakland Raiders. The deal gives Brown nearly $17 million annually in terms of salary.

Throughout all of this, Jones has remained confident that Atlanta and Arthur Blank will reward him for being loyal to the franchise. Soon, Jones could be receiving a new contract that keeps him with the Falcons for the rest of his career—to the delight of fans.
