Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan often doesn't get mentioned among the league's top passers, but he's been putting up some gaudy numbers. Ryan isn't as flashy and doesn't get a ton of headlines, but he's been quietly putting up a body of work over the last decade that's hard to argue with.

As Michael David Smith of ProFootballTalk.com points out, Ryan appears set to reach some important milestones during the 2019 season.

“Ryan has 295 career passing touchdowns, putting him just five away from 300 in his career. And Ryan has 46,720 passing yards, putting him 3,280 yards away from 50,000 in his career,” he writes.

As David Smith points out, Ryan is currently 12th on the league's all-time passing yards leader board. He could very easily pass a few people this year and climb as high as ninth. There's a good chance Ryan could move into the top 10 in all-time yards this year, but not many people seem to be paying attention.

Ryan has been incredibly consistent and durable, starting all 16 games in each of the past nine seasons. He's heading into a pivotal 2019 season, and the fate of the coaching staff could rest on his shoulders.

Just a few years ago the Falcons were on the verge of winning a Super Bowl, but they've declined sharply since then. Last year was a disaster due to injuries, and they ended up going 7-9. If Dan Quinn doesn't get it figured out this year, he's likely to find himself out of a job. Ryan will be under a lot of pressure to deliver, and he'll need to have one of his better seasons.
