It has been just over a month since the Philadelphia 76ers moved up in the 2017 NBA Draft to take former Washington point guard Markelle Fultz.

Prior to the Philadelphia Phillies taking on the Atlanta Braves on Monday afternoon, Fultz threw out the ceremonial first pitch to give himself his official welcome to the city to which fans were heard chanting “Trust the Process”.

It's a mantra that the 76ers and their fan base have truly embraced especially behind the play of rising star center Joel Embiid. Despite the team's struggles over the last few seasons, they have strung together a promising core group that features Fultz as one of the primary pieces to the puzzle.

The 19-year-old figures to play major minutes in the backcourt as one of their top scoring options alongside Embiid and Ben Simmons. He is coming off a strong freshman year at Washington where he averaged 23.2 points on 47.6 percent shooting from the field and 41.3 percent from 3-point range along with 5.9 assists per game.

He also had a strong showing in the three games he played in the Las Vegas Summer League a couple of weeks ago where he averaged 16.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.0 block in 21.5 minutes per game. Although he suffered an ankle sprain, it was quite an encouraging short glimpse of what could come this upcoming season.
