The Thunder Manifestation is a new field boss that arrived along with the release of Genshin Impact’s Version 2.1. This Oceanid-like creature is swift and agile, and its slew of thunderous attacks are sure to keep Travelers on their toes at all times. This boss is one of the more dangerous foes to look out for, and adequate preparation is required to comfortably defeat it. This guide will teach you what you need to prepare, which characters to bring, and what enemy attacks you have to look out for.

Where to find Thunder Manifestation

The Thunder Manifestation can be found in Seirai Island, one of the new explorable islands that appeared along with the game’s latest update. The boss arena, however, can only be unlocked at the end of the island’s main questline, “Seirai Stormchasers.” In this questline, players will need to traverse the dangerous island and solve puzzles involving rotating rocks and paper charms. By completing this, the player will finally be able to access the boss arena, high up in the center of the island, where a tough fight looms ahead.

The boss drops Storm Beads, which are materials needed to ascend Raiden Shogun and Kujou Sara. Completing the questline also seals the dangerous electro energy which permeates throughout the island, making it easier to gather Amakumo Fruit, also one of Raiden Shogun’s ascension materials.

Boss Preparation

The Thunder Manifestation is a tough boss to fight, and not all team compositions are suited or even viable to defeat it. First of all, it is immune to Electro damage, so DPS Electro characters won’t do any damage to the boss. The boss is also very agile and frequently moves around the vast arena, making abilities with stationary area-of-effects somewhat ineffective. Finally, the boss is being constantly infused with the Electro element, which prevents Vaporize, Melt, and Frozen, from being dealt with.

The boss is quite the large target and is vulnerable in the air, which makes ranged attacks super effective. The likes of Ganyu, Yoimiya, Klee, and Yanfei, turn this supposedly challenging fight into an easy one. Shielders like Zhongli and Diona are useful for mitigating a good amount of incoming damage, but it’s still paramount for players to avoid the boss’s attacks. Using consumables is also a good idea if you want to make the fight a bit easier, as long as you have sufficient materials to make the food.

How to beat Thunder Manifestation

The Thunder Manifestation only has one phase throughout the fight, but it has the most distinct moves among all bosses in the game. Each move has a significant wind-up time which players need to look out for, in order to avoid each and every attack. Some moves are simple but quick, while some moves can be devastating, but slow and easily anticipated.

Here are some of the simple moves the boss can do:

  • Spin Move – The boss curls and winds up, then spins toward the player.
  • Slicing Attack – When the player is very close to the boss, it can perform a swiping attack, dealing Electro damage.
  • Electro Blast – The boss tucks its wings, and then performs an explosive electro blast around it.
  • Dive Bomb – The boss twists and curls, then dives quickly towards the player, leaving an electro trail that deals damage. This is indicated by a line drawn on the ground before the boss performs the move.

Here are the dangerous moves the boss can do, and how to deal with them:

  • Electro Sigils – The boss moves to the center of the arena, and deploys several sigils around it. The sigils deal Electro damage, and can also create an explosion when the boss performs an Electro Blast. This can be an opportunity to attack, but the player needs to out-heal or mitigate the damage. Otherwise, you need to move towards the edge of the arena and wait for the move to expire.
  • Electro Wall – Two parallel walls will converge towards the player, and will deal Electro damage at the point of convergence. Simply run out before the walls close in.
  • Electro Needles – The boss summons five electro needles, which target the player and deals Electro damage. This move is easily noticeable, but the projectiles move fast enough that you need to dash in order to completely avoid it. Be careful not to be hit by any of the projectiles, since it can stun-lock your character.
  • Square Beam – The boss charges up and marks the current position of the player, and then summons a vertical square beam that follows the player. It’s easy to anticipate and avoid this attack, but you might find yourself in trouble if you run out of stamina.

The Thunder Manifestation is one of the more challenging boss fights currently in Genshin Impact, but it rewards players who are keen on adapting during the tough battle. Its slew of damaging moves might overwhelm the inexperienced player, but with enough practice, this challenge might be well worth the pain.
