Since joining the front office of the Philadelphia 76ers, Daryl Morey has done an excellent job building a supporting cast that best fits the team's core. In today's game, outside shooting is a prized commodity, especially for a team that is centered around a player like Joel Embiid. Morey continues to add a collection of deadeye shooters who make life miserable for opposing defense when they attempt to collapse on the MVP runner-up.

The latest 3-point marksman to be added to the mix is Georges Niang. Over the last three seasons in Utah, the 27-year-old shot 40% or better from beyond the arc.

Doc Rivers has been extremely high on the addition on Niang this offseason, and rightfully so. With what he brings to the floor, Niang will be a near-perfect fit in any lineup.

Over the years, multiple deadeye shooters have come to Philly and thrived playing off Embiid. JJ Redick might be the most notable name, but guys like Seth Curry and Danny Green have been seamless fits alongside the All-Star center.

Since arriving in Philadelphia, Niang has constantly mentioned that his conversations with Doc Rivers played a major part in him signing with the Sixers. The future Hall of Fame head coach did a great job explaining how he felt the sharpshooting forward would be a great addition to the team.

Following practice on Monday, Niang jokingly gave a simplified answer to what his role will be on the Sixers this season.

“I think I have a pretty good idea, make sure my guy doesn't get in Joel [Embiid]'s way so Joel can go score,” he said.

While talking with Rivers might have been the deciding factor for Niang, it is not the only reason he signed with the Sixers this summer. From the moment he first spoke to the media after his deal was official, he has openly expressed his excitement about getting to share the floor with Embiid.

“Playing with Joel [Embiid], I've said it before, the guy when he walks on to the court, he attracts a double team. To have him out on the court at the same time is a joy for sure,” said Niang.

Similar to previous outside shooters who have come to the Sixers, Niang has a chance to be a real X-factor with his skill set. His knockdown shooting and quick release make him a perfect complement to Embiid on the floor.

The Embiid + four shooters lineup is a look Rivers used sparingly last year but was always effective. With it still being unknown if Ben Simmons will suit up for the Sixers moving forward, it is something we are sure to see more of moving forward. Having Niang on the roster now gives Rivers another option to put on the floor when defenses are constantly collapsing to try to slow Embiid down.

Multiple 3-point specialists have had some of their best shooting seasons due to the gravity Embiid draws on the floor, and Niang has a great chance to join that group.
