It is the second game of the round of 16 at UEFA Euro 2024 as Germany faces Denmark. It is time to continue our UEFA Euro 2024 odds series with a Germany-Denmark prediction and pick.

Germany comes into the game as the winner of Group A. Germany opened with a dominating win over Scotland. It was a 5-1 victory, with the only goal for Scotland coming on an own goal from Germany. They would then have the clean sheet against Hungary, to secure their second win. In their third game, Germany would face Switzerland. Dan Ndoye scored in the 28th minute, but Niclas Fullkrug would come on as a cub and score in stoppage time. That would give Germany the tie, and the top spot in the group.

Meanwhile, Denmark finished second in their group, just behind England. They ended with a game against Slovenia, with Christian Erikson scoring to give Denmark the lead. In the 77th minute, Slovenia would tie it, and Denmark would end up with a draw. They would also end up with a draw against England. England scored first with a goal from Harry Kane but struggled against the Denmark defense after that. Denmark tied it against in the 34th minute and took the draw. They would end up with a third straight draw in their last game. That time, it was a 0-0 affair against Serbia.

Why Germany Will Win

Germany has a plus-six goal differential, which is currently the best in the tournament. They also had an expected goal differential of 3.2 in the group stage. Jamal Musiala has been stellar for Germany so far in the competition. He has two goals in three starts so far, with an expected goal total of .5 goals.  He has also been impressive in passing, with 11 progressive passes, which is the most of the forwards for Germany. Musiala has also shot well, with three of his five shots hitting the target. Also shooting well has been Niclas Fullkrug. Fullrkug has just three shots with two on target. Both shots on target have hit the goal, while he has played in just 76 minutes of game time. Even if Fullkrug is coming off the bench, he can be expected to make a big impact in this game.

Fullkrug would be replacing Kai Havertz if he were to move into the starting lineup. Harvetz has been solid, with a goal and an assist. Still, the goal is on a  Penalty kick and he has not found the back of the net outside of that in his eight other shots. Rounding out the German attack is Leroy Sane. He has seven shots so far with three on target. Sane has yet to score but has opened the pitch coming on as a sub.

The German defense has been solid this tournament. Manuel Neuer has stopped five of the six shots on target, while allowing two goals, one being an own goal. In front of him. Joshua Kimmich has been solid. He has four shot blocks, four interceptions, and four tackles won. He also is responsible for a goal-scoring chance on the counter.

Why Denmark Will Win

Denmark has not had the same level of offensive success as Germany. Christian Erickson has been the primary focus of the attack. He has ten shots, but just two on target, scoring one goal so far in these games. He is averaging nearly 3.5 shots per 90 minutes but has not exceeded his expected goal totals. Morten Hjulmand has the goal for Denamrk. He has scored once on five shots with two on target.  Denmark would like to see more pressure from Pierre Hojbjerg. He has six shots so far with four on target but has yet to score. Hojbjerg has also been solid on defense so far. He has three interceptions, eight won tackles, and five blocked shots in these games.

Also at forward, and also making an impact, is Jonas Wind. He has an assist, with five shots, but just one on target. He also leads the team in goal creation so far in the games. Denmark will be looking to rely on their defense overall. Kasper Schmeichel has been solid, stopping five of seven shots. Further, both Joakim Maehle and Andreas Chsitesen have been solid in front of him. They have combined for nine interceptions, four blocked shots, and four won tackles.

Final Germany-Denmark Prediction & Pick

This is a strength-against-strength situation. Germany has a great attack and can score with the best of them. Still, Denmark has the better defense. The difference in this game will be depth. Either Niclas Fullkrug or Kai Havertz will be on the bench to start the game, as the other wears down the back line of the Denmark defense. Expect this to be a low-scoring game with a late goal from a sub for Germany.
