It looks like Sucker Punch has a few more reveals up its sleeve ahead of the Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut launch this month. They have recently showed off the Iki Island expansion. Now, they have also announced that the multiplayer mode, Ghost of Tsushima: Legends will be getting a standalone release alongside some new features.

Incoming new mode and features:

First off, they showed off the new Rivals mode. This will release on September 3 and will include new trophies and cosmetics. Rivals mode involves two teams of two players facing waves of enemies. Each fallen foe gives a player a magatama, which is a resource that can be spent on effects that can harm the enemy team. An example of these effects are curses, such as health drain and exploding bodies.

Alongside the release of Rivals comes the new Ghost of Tsushima: Legends Gear Mastery system. This expands the current progression system of the game. Players with 110-level gear can now bind it to a class and activate “Mastery Challenges.” This will allow gear to have a maximum Ki level of 120 and even unlock a 2nd perk slot. New Abilities and Techniques will also become available as players activate more Mastery Challenges.

Once Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut releases on August 20, several balancing updates will also go live. One of these is the rebalanced Survival mode that aims to shorten session length. Sucker Punch has also added new weekly Survival Nightmare challenges. There are also additional cosmetics that unlock in Ghost of Tsushima: Legends linked to the single-player story and New Game+.

All of these new features and modes are of course free to all owners of Ghost of Tsushima, with or without the Director's Cut.  On September 3, Ghost of Tsushima: Legends will be available as a standalone game on the PlayStation Store. It will cost $19.99 for both the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 versions. This will also have cross-play enabled with players who own the full version of the game. Additionally, if you eventually decide to upgrade to get the single-player game, you can get the Director's Cut for $40 on PS4 or $50 on PS5.

Other incoming content:

Sucker Punch has also stated in their official PlayStation Blog post that they will be releasing a new piece of content each week. This content drop will start on September 10 and continue until October 1. It will include a new Rivals map, and new Survival maps inspired by Iki Island and Iyo's Realm. The Trials of Iyo, a new harder-difficulty version of last year's raid, will also be available with a new set of leaderboards.
