It goes without saying that New York Giants cornerback Eli Apple's career has gotten off to a tumultuous start. Tensions ultimately boiled over during the disastrous 2017 NFL season when safety Landon Collins referred to his young teammate as a “cancer” in the locker room.

Fortunately, it seems both players are ready to bounce back for the 2018 NFL season. Via to Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk, Collins has reportedly “buried the hatchet” with Apple (as he explained to several reporters in East Rutherford, New Jersey on Monday).

“Collins was back at work with the rest of the team with the offseason program starting on Monday and sang a different tune about Apple. According to multiple reporters, Collins said he’s “buried the hatchet” with Apple and is “glad” to have him back because the team needs him at cornerback.”

There was plenty of hype surrounding Apple after the Giants took him with the 10th overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. Although he managed to capture the starting job over cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie last season,  it was not long before tensions with his teammates and coaching staff began to take its toll on his performance.

It even reached the point in which Apple was suspended for the season finale due to “conduct detrimental to the team.”

However, New York is now clearly in a position where they are looking to rid themselves of any frustration that was felt during the 2o17 campaign. That said, Collins is on the money when mentioning the team's need for him at cornerback, especially after they decided to part ways with Rodgers-Cromartie this offseason.
