New York Giants head coach Pat Shurmur has announced that he's added more players to the key staff of the team's coaching roster, according to a new report.

In an official statement posted on the Giants official website, Shurmur announced that he's hired Mike Dawson as the outside linebacker's coach, and Henry Baker as the assistant defensive backs coach.

Shurmur said that he couldn't think of better additions to the lineup.

“We are thrilled to add Mike and Henry to our coaching staff. They are both outstanding teachers, communicators, and motivators. They are also great people, and we look forward to both of them contributing to our success.”

Baker will work with Lou Anarumo, who is also a defensive backs coach. Baker replaces Deshea Townsend, who was recently named the Chicago Bears’ defensive backs coach.

Dawson, meanwhile, was hired as the replacement for Rob Leonard, who left the Giants to become the Miami Dolphins’ linebackers coach.

Dawson, who has a 20-year history as a coach at both the collegiate and the professional levels, comes to the Giants from a position as the collegiate defensive line coach under Scott Frost, in 2018 at Nebraska and the 2016-17 seasons at Central Florida.

Baker — who is Shurmur's second hire — comes to the Giants from Rutgers University, where he returned on Jan. 2 as cornerbacks coach and passing game coordinator after spending the 2018 season at the University of North Carolina as cornerbacks coach – the position he held at Rutgers in 2017. He was also the cornerbacks coach at the University of Delaware for six seasons.
