New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. was not present for organized team activities on Monday, the fourth-straight session he’s missed. However, it might not be long until he gets back on the field.

Per ESPN’s Jordan Raanan, Giants head coach Pat Shurmur said there’s a possibility Beckham is finally medically cleared in time for next week’s mandatory minicamp. Shurmur also added that despite Beckham’s recent absences from OTAs, he expects the star wideout to show up for said minicamp.

Beckham is still recovering from a broken ankle which shortened his 2017 season. But while he has participated in parts of the team’s offseason workout program, he has been limited in what he’s been able to do. Shurmur said recently that Beckham was “pretty close” to receiving the all-clear on his ankle.

However, it doesn’t seem as if Beckham’s new long-term contract is close to being completed. The Giants reportedly want to see Beckham in action after his ankle injury before they hand him a deal that would likely make him the highest-paid wide receiver in the league.

Even if he’s fully cleared for minicamp and somehow looks good despite his long layoff, the Giants may still choose to wait a little longer before coming to terms.

Although Shurmur says he expects Beckham to show up for mandatory minicamp, that may not actually come to pass if Beckham wants to push the issue with those contract talks. But with minicamp just over a week away, everyone won’t have to wait much longer to find out if that is indeed the case.
