The New York Giants made the surprise move on Thursday morning to part ways with former Pro Bowl wide receiver Brandon Marshall due to a failed physical. This has seemingly put the team on the market for a wide receiver to help fill the void left by Marshall's departure.

It has led to rumors surrounding potential interest in former Pro Bowl wideout Dez Bryant, who was released by the Dallas Cowboys last week. However, former Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz has hinted at possibly being interested in rejoining New York.

Cruz spent his first six years with the Giants where he had been a primary part of the passing game, establishing himself as one of the top young wideouts in the league. He had back-to-back campaigns to start his career with at least 80 catches, 1,000 receiving yards, and nine touchdowns.

However, his production significantly declined after he suffered a torn patellar tendon in October 2014, and he struggled to stay on the field from that point on. He was unable to get back on the field for the 2015 campaign but did manage to play in the 2016 season. He struggled to show the same explosive burst, recording 39 catches on 72 targets for 586 receiving yards and a touchdown in one game.

The 31-year-old was able to latch onto the Chicago Bears last offseason but was released just prior to the start of the 2017 season. Since then, he has been on the open market looking to latch onto another team, but he hasn't received any significant interest.

The Giants could become a possibility if he's willing to sign a short-term deal that would pay him under market value given his previous struggles with injuries. That said, New York is likely first focusing on bringing aboard Bryant, as there could be mutual interest on both sides. If things break down in any manner, Cruz could enter the picture at some point down the line.
